Common Names: English marigold, Pot marigold

This old English cottage garden favourite flowers for most of the Summer. The bright yellow / orange flowers contrasts well with plants with darker foliage. Planted as a group, they look stunning when in flower. Alternatively, plant them in the vegetable garden, for calendula is an insect repellent.

The leaves and flowers of calendula has been used since the middle ages as a herb and medicine. They have a bitter after taste and is best used in small quantities in a salad. Calendula cream is still popular today for the relief of skin problems.
