The flowers open pale green and matures to dark pink.

Fuchsia excorticata is the largest fuchsia in the world. This NZ native fuchsia grows to a small tree and is tolerant of full sun and salt winds. The pollen is blue. It flowers from Spring through to early Autumn. The flowers are followed by edible fruits that ripen to showy bright red.
