Phalaenopsis is a genus of warm growing orchids originating from South East Asia.
They are monopodial (meaning, they grow indefinitely from a terminal bud) and do not grow pseudobulbs.
The large leaves are thick and leathery, and grow along two ranks on either side of the stem.
A flower spike is produced once a year, each spike contains several flowers that last for several months.
