Spontaneous GerminationCertain seeds, such as those from Nerines, germinate without water or growing media. Leave them alone for long enough and they start to germinate. A small bulb will form where the tip of the shoot touches the ground.

This Gaillardia's seed head has been exposed to the weather for a couple of months and during the start of the wet Winter, its seeds have begun to germinate!
Chokos only have one seed per fruit and will germinate without water. The seed soon grows into a vine when the roots come into contact with the ground.
